THE QUALITY OF OUR WINE IS TIED TO THE GENEROSITY OF AN EXCEPTIONAL TERROIR.
The hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene land of Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G.
are the protagonists of the history of Prosecco.
A place where unique vineyards are cultivated. We have learned to perceive and understand this land in order to highlight the different structures, minerality and characteristics of the vineyards in which we produce grapes. It is just the heroic outline of the hills of San Gallo vineyards to inspire BiancaVigna logo, a sign of a landscape always been part of our identity.
OUR TERROIRS PART OF THE CONEGLIANO VALDOBBIADENE D.O.C.G. APPELLATION
A UNIQUE TERRITORY
The Appellation Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore was born in 1962 with the aim of 11 producers who founded the Consorzio di Tutela del Prosecco di Conegliano Valdobbiadene. In 1969 it obtained the recognition of D.O.C. within the 15 municipalities between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. In 2009 the Conegliano Valdobbiadene becomes Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G. following the reorganization of the territory that sees the acknowledgment of D.O.C.G. in the historical area and the recognition to D.O.C. (before I.G.T.) in the largest area of the five provinces of Veneto (Treviso, Venice, Vicenza, Belluno, Rovigo) and in 4 provinces of Friuli Venezia Giulia (Gorizia, Pordenone, Trieste, Udine).
It includes 15 municipalities and it’s named after the two main towns: Conegliano, cultural capital where the first Italian Oenological School was founded in 1876, and Valdobbiadene, capital of production, devoted to the cultivation of Glera since ever and characterized by a unique landscape.
Prosecco D.O.C.G. is produced with at least 85% of the grape varietal Glera cultivated within the D.O.C.G. designated area, with yields per hectare limited to 13,5 tons, and a maximum of 15% of indigenous grape varietals such as Perera, Bianchetta and Verdiso.
According to the residual sugars it’s classified as Brut, Extra Dry and Dry.

THE "RIVE"
In the local dialect the word “Rive” has always meant the slopes of the steep hills located within the area of the two wine capitals, Conegliano and Valdobbiadene and they represent the peculiarities of this harsh and unique land. In defining these “crus” the legislator has wanted to keep precise identities and to give to each “Riva” the name of the municipality or of the hamlet of production.
The area of Conegliano Valdobbiadene includes 12 municipalities (among which Farra di Soligo, Pieve di Soligo, Susegana e San Pietro di Feletto) and 31 hamlets for a total of 43 “Rive”.
Each one has its own soil composition, exposure and micro-climate which make these parcels unique like their wines. Here, yields are limited to 13 tons per hectare, grapes are exclusively harvested by hand and the label must indicate the vintage and the name of the “Riva” where the grapes come from.
BiancaVigna is proud to have three “Rive”: Rive di Soligo, historic property’s site located at an altitude of 380 mt a.s.l., 70% slope and Rive di Ogliano, area that since 2015 is the winery headquarter and Rive di Collalto, vineyard situated in the southern zone of the Appelation Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G..
Worth to mention is the ratio of working hours per hectare that here, in the “Rive”, exceed 700 per year due to the difficulties to access and to farm such parcels. In fact, to prevent from erosion, the terrace cultivation has been practiced since ever yet, without support of any dry-stone walls thanks to the conglomerate soil structure.
OUR TERROIRS PART OF THE PROSECCO D.O.C. APPELLATION
The Prosecco D.O.C appellation was founded in 2009 following the reorganization of the territory. The D.O.C.G. is recognized to the historical area of Conegliano Valdobbiadene and the recognition of Denominazione di Origine Controllata (D.O.C.) is assigned to a wider area of the 5 provinces of Veneto (Treviso, Venice, Vicenza, Padua, Belluno) and 4 of Friuli Venezia Giulia (Gorizia, Pordenone, Trieste and Udine).
Soils are mostly of alluvial origin (limestone and clay), rich in minerals and microelements that make Prosecco so unique.
BiancaVigna vineyards within the appellation Prosecco D.O.C. are located across the borders of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene D.O.C.G. where the soil is more suitable for the vines to grow and develop their roots deep in the ground so that wines have more structure, elegance and finesse.

Environmental Protection
is in our nature.
We live these places every day, not just for work. Our families live here, our children play here, our lives are here. That’s why we've made a commitment to this territory: to make it better than we found it. Concretely, taking all the necessary measures to be more sustainable every day.
With solar panels that provide us with more than 80% of the energy we need, using recycled and virtuous materials to limit heat loss. We have equipped the building with large glass surfaces, to have natural light in the rooms, and the cellar with a system to recycle the water. The bottles we use are made from recycled glass, which is lighter to reduce CO2 emissions during transport. All the packaging we choose is made from environmentally sustainable materials.
In our vineyards we practice an integrated pest management, which means making natural choices in defense of the cultivations, reducing, up to completely eliminating, the use of synthetic substances. We eliminated glyphosate long before it was forbidden by the disciplinary of Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG designation. We harvest everything by hand, listening to the time of these places and to the different terroirs of our wines. The well-being of this land finds the highest expression in our organic vineyard, where the Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG Biologico BiancaVigna is born.
We think about the future of these hills, but also of the grapes we grow. We participate in the Glera Project, promoted by the Research Institute for Viticulture CREA of Conegliano, for the development of Glera clones naturally resistant to the most common vine diseases.
